Little or nothing to do with distillation.

So I went shopping

Post by Kidnapper2 »

I haven't done anything in quite awhile. Had a lot of "life issues" moved, work, another kid started college and just about all the normal life things that seem to invade any persons hobby time.

So I took some time this week in the garage to put together my new still, ended up making a simple offset nixon to attach to my keg. Until I find someone to weld a npt fitting to it, I am going to heat with propane. I have a 4500 watt heater and control unit just needs to be put in.

This morning I trekked out to get supplies for making up some wash. Stopped at the local brew shop and picked up a couple more fermenters, going to a 15 gal boiler from a 4. Picked up a bunch of brewers yeast. And a mini bottle of a new organic vodka, figure I'd give it a try.

Next I go to the market and buy 20 boxes of Gerber barley, 100 pounds of sugar (4 25lbs bags), a couple more aquarium pumps for aerating, 8 gallons of vinegar, couple cases of new mason jars, a new digital thermometer and they happened to have fresh red star yeast in the fridge section so I picked up 2 jars of that as well.

So I make it to the check out and the gal working the register is scanning my stuff through and she gets to the mason jars and says, "If I didn't know any better, I would think you're a moonshiner.". My response, was "huh". Stupid people never get asked a question twice, and I can play stupid very naturally. She then says that when she was back home in Missouri, these were common items for such a thing. I smiled, paid and before getting away she says, "Good luck with your canning, and don't can and drive."

The organic vodka I picked up is called American Harvest Organic Spirit. http://americanharvestspirit.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow

Gotta say it was pretty darn tasty. On their website they claim it's an all organic wheat, continuous column distillation. and they use all snake river water
