H i everyone... im new to this forum and wanted to say hi ...im getting ready to build my 1st still ... real simple at 1st before i jump in with both feet ... :lol: ..I have a question ... i want to start off with a stainless steel pot with a copper condensor on top.. ill put copper tubing off of the condensor down into a worm with ice and hopefully drip into glass container .... does that sound good for starts ?... is there a certain type of stainless steel pot that i should use on a cheap budget ? ... thx and hello once again

Just so you're clear: Heat Source >>> Pot >>> Stillhead/Tower >>> Condensor/Worm

Find you a stainless steel beer keg. I pulled mine out of the woods that someone had dumped there years ago. Remove the center post. Viola!

Welcome to HD Deep in The Woods, Stainless and copper are good, ice on your coil is not so good, go to the distillation design section and have a good read and the rest of the site too. Then you'll have even more questions but you'll also have some answers, good luck and happy building. :thumbup:

I'm kinda cornfused? You said you come off the pot to a condenser then from the condenser down to a worm in a bucket. Why would you need two condensers? Sounds kinda like you are wanting to build a pot still. But a condenser above the pot would be more like a reflux still?

Maybe you can explain it a little better for us? Or draw us a diagram. So we can get a good picture of what you are trying to build.

Sorry prairiepiss i used wrong term. :D off the top of the pot ..I want to put a two inch copper tube...like a chimney ...then start running copper tubing from the side of that..Down to a worm......Thx for the help
