Where can I buy nice bottles?

Post by OCDistiller »

I've made a few liquers, a spiced rum, and a bourbon and am looking for small (approx 375 ml) attractive bottles to put them in for Christmas gifts to friends and family. I've been searching on line and am finding out that nice, classy, but not overly-expensive bottles are hard to find. They're often either very dull, outragiously expensive, or only sold by the crate.

In particular I'm looking for the tall, thin bottles that grappa, liquers, and dessert wines often come in.

I also love those short, fat 375 ml bottle that Hudson Whiskey comes in.

Any idea where to buy bottles like that on line?

I've done the 250ml & 375ml bottles from brewhaus and they are a perfect size for gifting. Another really nice touch is the PVC shrink caps or dip the tops in bottle wax. Both make an excellent presentation for gifting bottles.

I'll definitely be going with the wax. It's just a great touch.

Wax is beautiful addition for gifting. It is a much more personal touch, with just the right 'home done' look. Much better than the pvc shrinkers IMHO, which make it look like some commercial stuff.

The only issue with the wax, is if you combine that with a porcelean (sp) grolch flip top type. I do not think either wax or the shrink sealer will work.

All the bottles of wine I bottled a few months back I used the shrink wrap crap on. And every one of them have split down the side and just fall off now.

I will be doing a wax job from now on.

I actually found several nice growler type bottle at The Container Store this weekend. I grabbed some for my hard apple cider over Thanksgiving. Several sizes & types. Some good looking ones in different colors too, all pretty reasonably priced ($5-$9). Check out the store or website if you're still in the market.
