Coming out party.

Post by mash rookie »

No I am not gay. I have formed a company. AMERICAN MADE STILLS LLC. This still I built for fellow HD member Mashy. Introducing OD001 Old Dog Distiller 1. With OD’s blessing I have named this plated flute after him.
It is an eight perf plate still with an 18” add on packed section for neutrals. It incorporates a three plate drain and bypass system, dephlag coolant temp and my signature spiral condenser. I will soon be offering for sale custom stills and Micro distillery size stills. Serious inquiries only. Yes my work is expensive. My website is not up yet but domain name is secured. AmericanMadeStills.com. PM me with questions.

I thought that was what you were up to... you'll do very well. Excellent Quality, craftsmanship, knowledge of the craft, if you diversify (multiple products), have good customer reviews, and can get yer name out there, I think there would be no limit as to how big you could grow... Best wishes...

Mashy was up today and we spent the day running two lousy unfinished batches of UJ that I had sitting. She is a beautiful still when running. Even more spectacular with the 18” add on below the main column. I will post more pictures soon.

So your adding the 18" of packed column under the plated still? is there a reason you went below the plates with the packing? What you packing it with? You going with your lava rock?

Nice work as always. Good luck with your endeavors.

Awesome. Best of luck to you in this venture. I have been following your work for some time (jealously). I am sure you have secured your own niche in this market and will find the success you seek.

Beautiful work Mashrookie. Good luck! Cant wait to see your websight when its up. I recommend you do a simple copper column/liebig potstill head. There's lots of new folks around here looking to get into something quick who may not have the tools or soldering chops. Be nice to see an HD brethren getting the business with solid copper craftsmanship over the ss alternatives.

Here are a few more pictures. The add on was intended to be used above the plates an I was going to TIG up a stainless cage to hold packing. Because of the difficulty changing the configuration and getting a seal on “easy flanges” I am going to add stainless flanges to it and he will use it underneath. It may not be as effective as above but definitely brought up % a few points and will be a lot easier to use.
Mashy is a great guy to hang out with. We knocked back quite a few comparing drink and talked of how to save the world. He makes some damn fine UJ. The start of a friendship.

I love the marriage of Art and science. The still has a beautiful lyrical quality to it. You could get rid of the boiler, add a marble stand and show it in a art gallery.

Cheers,

Thanks Max. I studied under an Italian master glass blower when learning my trade as a glass artist. I view all of my work from an artistic point of view. I wish I had more time to commit to this wonderful art form. Getting to the level of comprehension of distillation that allows me to be creative has to be credited to HD. Thank you all. There is more to come.

The still is truly a work of art. You can't really appreciate the fine detail in the picture but you get a pretty good idea. Had a great time hangin' with you MR!

Awesome ! ! ! ! ! !
It is not the matter, nor, the space between the matter,
but rather, it is that finite point at which the two meet,
that, and only that, is what is significant...........

Thanks Usge. I have been so busy with other projects that it has been tough to get the business launched. I am not even close to having my website built.

I am considering selling my Sexy Girl. She certainly has a reputation. What do you think? Think she will bring a good price? With all the testing of new designs I have not run her in months. I have a lot of $$ tied up in materials.
