Chilling my condenser water.

Post by Spud1 »

I'm using a 1/4 barrel for a boiler. Planning on running 3 to 6 gallons of wash at a time.

Was hoping to use a 1/2 barrel of cooling water. Will run the cooling water through an old AC condenser that is mounted on a 36 inch shop fan.

My questions will I have to keep adding cool water or will the fan and condenser setup keep the water cool enough? I plan on only running this in the winter. 60f or less.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Just a guess but I'd think you'd be OK with the A/C condenser setup.

I've seen this type set up used in the past, my saying is a 1 test is worth a thousand opinions so why not run it and find out shouldn't be to hard to change water when needed!

Several other factors come in to play also....... will you be doing strip runs or spirit runs
How fast you pump the water through the coil makes a difference in the efficiency of the coil to

It would be pretty easy to do a test run without alc to see how it performs, then you could fix any potential issues before your actual run...........

Hi spudder,

I've got a similar setup. You should not have any problems.

It works fine. Didn't have to change the water. Cooling water stayed right around 70 degrees.
