Raisins

Post by Prole »

I got 5lbs of organic raisins -- very sweet with a listed sugar content of 23%. I've got a 5 gallon wash going. I soaked them overnight, chopped them up with a small hand blender and boiled them along with 2 and a half pounds of sugar, DAP, Ascorbic Acid, gypsum and a pinch of Epsom salts. Once cooled threw in my yeast. Bubblin' slow but I'm optimistic and hope to run it in a few weeks. Anyone else done a raisin wash?

It sounds like you might be making raisin brandy.

Check out this thread on raisins: http://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtopi ... =3&t=28362

Sounds like a fun recipe, I bet it turns out to be some good stuff.

Thanks.
I plan on using it for base to make Absinthe.
