use cherry bbq wood chips locally??

Post by justinm001 »

I toasted a couple bags of local store bought Charbroil cherry woodchips at 350degrees for 3 hours covered in aluminum foil. Smells great and put in some new spirits and looks great. Great color and everything. We're testing in about 6 jars with different amount of wood vs spirits.

Just want to make sure it is okay to drink and nothing major not using actual real wood chips. I figured if they're good enough to smoke meat and grill with they should be healthy enough.....right?

Its almost a perfect amber\golden\reddish color.

i've been considering using apple chips for aging some apple jack....this could be interesting
I told the officer "I have my .45 on my hip, a 9mm in the console, and my shotgun under the seat" He said "Damn! What are you afraid of?" "Nothing" I replied...

Here are a couple pics I just took. The jars were stilled and wood chips were placed in on 12\31. Colors great and all started with about 250Ml of 150 proof rum. Seems the wood soaks a bit. smells good and all seems well.
