What to do with Heads feints

Post by condo33 »

I've read up and I think I see differing opinions on what to do with feint type heads. I include heads from my stripping runs in my low wines carboy for the later Spirit run. But I'm not sure what to do with the heads that come with the Spirit run (feints).
I think these are concentrated heads, and maybe shouldn't be included in any more runs. Is this thinking okay. I don't want to waste the alcohol, but I don't want to ruin my end product either. Could always use it as charcoal lighter fluid, or ant killer. Thanks,

some people add them to their next stripping run some just do like you said and throw them out. i run a potstill, what i do is usually add them to my next run ive been told that it compresses the heads more and can give a bit more hearts out of it to me it, to me its worth the chance since its just gonna go to waste anyway, however it is completely up to each individual as to whether uyou use them or not.

I just posted a response to a similar question in the mentors section. That may give you ideas.

Thanks guys. I think I'll chew on this a while then decide wheither to add to next strip, or to do a all feints run. For now, I'll keep them in a feints container.
I've been stealing a quart from my stripping runs while practicing cuts. I think I'll stop that for a while too so I end up with a bigger hearts group in my next Spirit run.

Try a feint run for yourself and see. I enjoy the product I get from a feint run. I run a pot still, single run. Comes out at 120 proof. Feint run comes out 160 proof. Interesting taste that oaks very well for me.
