Keg skirt

Post by BentJar »

I was concerned about a fire caused by an accidental spill and , so looking around the shed I spotted a brass door plate that folks put at the bottom of a door, a kick plate I think its called. 8 in. wide and 34 in long, made of brass.
I cut, trimmed and formed a bend at one end to hook over the edge of the keg and it hangs down to the floor..... and wallah... a keg skirt. Looks great all polished up.
Now I dont cook when im drunk but do taste my product and have been known to be clumsy. I thought this skirt would be a small safety improvement
to divert any liquid spill away from the burner.

I got no picture but next cook I will take a few and post.

always greatfull for the help and advice found on HD

You don't need to run the still to show pics of the skirt? Great idea!

Aside from the safety idea, it will keep the heat under the keg also.

Should also help you run it low with less chance of your flame getting blown out.

And just for fun. What you meant was "Voila". It's French for "there it is". So when the magician pulls the rabbit out of the hat next time you'll know why he says that.

Aight...I'll go out there and stage it up, take few pictures... I got my Boka cooling system lines done so you can advise on that.

The literal translation is, "see there". So when someone says, "....et, voila!", It loosely translates out to be more like, "....and, lookie there!"

On a side note:
Ever wonder where the ampersand symbol "&" came from? It is an "E" and a "t" formed together as a ligature. "Et" is the Latin(also in French, as it is based on Latin) word for "and".

OK, todays French lesson is completed. Class dismissed.

Haha. I'll have to tell my junior year French teacher she was wrong. Then again she lived in France for many years so I've probably just changed the basic phrase. It's only been about 18 years since that class. Guess the general meaning, "There it is" and "Look here" are about the same. At least I spelled it right.

Can't tell from the pics, because I don't see a condenser, but are you collecting right there on the wood shelf?

No,NO not collecting on the shelf. I have an extention that snaps onto the take off tube and comes back off for storage,
The shelf holds my next jars, note pad and pen, mixing cup for fores etc.
