How long in the oven?

I have looked and looked and cannot seem to find the answer. How long should I toast my oak cubes/sticks in the oven at the temperature range from the chart I found in the other category? Is there a good rule of thumb to follow?

My apologizes in advance if this is a simple answer to find, but it eludes me.

I believe ive read 350-400 degrees for 1-2 hours. im sure others have varied but this seems to be the average.

I have read that also, but when I tried it it seemed to over cook my oak.

As with everything else in this hobby, I'll experiment . Was kind of hoping for some wisdom before wasting some good oak wood.
