Apple butter flavoring

Post by thereactorleak »

I used to live in Maryland and my family still sends me fresh apple butter made from the farm down the street, for those that have had apple butter, is there a good way to try and soak the flavor into some shine? There are a lot of fine pieces of apple in it so just letting it soak without getting all the little bits may be quite difficult, if anyone knows a way I could get some concentrate from it to add to some shine that would be great.

I'd just add it to your wash, and let the bits settle to the bottom, where they will be left behind when you rack it off. Or if you want to add the flavor to some already ran, perhaps put some in an old sock (just worn or fresh-washed, your preference) and let it hang out for a while in a jar of 'shine.

Thanks for the recipe info, I ran my first successful batches of straight shine this past weekend! (2 runs, 2.5 gal each) Excited to try the apple sauce method first since my socks are probably not the best haha
