PTFE Everlasting Gasket

Post by maddmatt »

I've searched and can't seem to really find any info on this. Is corrugated cardboard okay to use or is everyone using the single sheet type of cardboard (like the back page of a legal pad)? I ask only because the corrugated stuff I would assume has some kind of glue in it, which might be bad.

I wouldn't use corrugated, as it will "squish" a lot more. One or more single layers would work wonders, I'd wager.

Assuming you read this thread: http://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24199

I did read that thread in my research, and it doesn't actually say if he used corrugated or not. I did see that someone in the thread said they used corrugated cardboard but nobody said if it was a good idea or not.

I have used the cardboard from a cereal packet like corn flakes. Works great, re-seals every time. It has been sealed about 20 times so far. So that is what I would do again if ever it leaked.

Most people I have seen that did say what type they used were using posterboard type cardboard, not corrugated. Cereal box (as above), backing board off a note pad, those kind of things.

I'd wonder about the glue used in corrugated.
