Absolutely worthless info I thought I'd share

Post by Odin »

I live in Europe where we use Celsius to measure temperature. Most of the guys on the other side of the pond use the Fahrenheit system. That's always anoying, because when somebody posts in Fahrenheit, I have to recalculate it for it to make sense to me. Same thing, just the other way around, for others, I guess.

Now, as I was flying over Berlin last weekend, I noticed that the small monitor above my head did not only tell me our altitude. It also informed us passengers on the outside temperature. A few seconds in Celsius, and then a few seconds in Fahrenheit. As we climbed higher and higher, I saw the outside temperatures dropping, and I thought to myself: "Really? Is it really going to happen?"

And it did.

Minus 41 degrees Fahrenheit is the same as minus 41 degrees Celsius.

Not trying to be an ass but -40 is the number. The difference is small at -41 c the temp is -41.8f vice versa -41f is -41.5c. Now the difference in kelvin is much greater at -40c/f it is 233.149k

Bloody hell, so I share totally worthless information, and it turns out to be not even accurate!

My sincere apologies!

I think your on to something Odin. If the makers of those little digital stem thermometers could incoporate a swinging display, like the areoplane one, they could also do away with the F/C switch.

Might save a dollar or 2 at the checkout too.

So lets do all our mashing and fermenting at -41 so we can leave off the letter and not confuse each other...

Definitely be a good temp to stick a fermenting bucket outside and skim off ice.

Vodka was originally freezed grain ferment. Thaw the frozen ferment, alcohol drips out first, collect, re-freeze, etc.

Interesting ... only I don't see myself climbing out on that airplane wing ...

We get those temps up in the North North US. But they aren't making cuts when freezing like that.

Yeah an that shits terrible. They used to take cooking sherry out and do the same thing up in Alaska up on the northern Oil Fields where its not the easiest place to get food and drink. It might have even been a dry community up there.

what the hell does jalapeno ass taste like? Jalapeno on a steeeek?

Ive had frozen beer on occasion. By accident of course, leaving them in the freezer too damn long, then slurping the liquid part off the ice to get a drink. That pretty much tastes like ass too.
