Hi guys,
Just back from a great vacation! We first drove to Hungary to drop of the kids for their summer camp, then continued to Croatia for a week, and came back to Hungary for another 2 weeks of leisure time. Wheather was great. Between 30 and 40 degrees C every day. Sailing, swimming, visiting people & places, eating, drinking ...
I will try to share a few pictures with you ...
First on our trip to Croatia, then some more while we were visiting Hungary.
Here's a few pics when we visited the Plitvice Lakes in Croatia. All lakes and waterfalls for like 11 klicks. The 11 klicks were killing, since the temperature was above 35 degrees C, but it was definately worth it.
Regards, Odin.

Re: Holidays
And after we visited the Plitvice Lakes, we continued our trip and drove to the Adriatic Coast of Croatia. Supposed to be the most beautiful coast of the whole Mediteranean. We had to drive over very small roads to get to the appartment we rented, but just the view was worth it!
O, so was the sea food. Squids, mossles, you name it. If it can swim, they catch it & bake it, and you eat it.
Beers are pretty good too, Karlovacko being my personal favorite.
We also drank some local brandy (heads!) and a local liqueur made with wormwood. Didn't ring any bells like Absinth, though ...
Okay, here's the view from our appartment:

Re: Holidays
Absolutely beautiful. Glad you enjoyed your vacation.
My Grandpa used to say. Don't argue with an idiot, because he will just drag you down to his level then beat you with experience.
He also used to say. I didn't say it was your fault. I just said that I was blaming you.

And here's some pictures we took at the Croatian city of Split. Build on the old Roman palace/city build by Deocletheus (or something) in around 300 BC. Tower is from the 12th century, the black sfinx is over 3,500 years old ...
Split is a beautiful city with squares everywhere.

Re: Holidays
Back in Hungary, one of the first things we had to do was some shopping. Hey, with four kids to feed ...
Gues what's the first thing I see in the local Tesco?
Love those countries where home distilling is allowed ...
And another picture. Of the baptize party we visited. Visited? Well, since the mss and me became godparents, I guess you could say we were pretty much at the center of it. The baby actually liked the water, the guests loved my vodka. The two older guys on the picture are both seasoned home distillers, by the way.

Re: Holidays
Oh wow, that's absolutely gorgeous. Croatia and Hungary are 2 countries still on my list to visit. I've been to lots of other places though, so can't complain too much. Italy, Greece, Spain, France, Germany, England, Scotland, Africa, Australia, Greece, Hong Kong, thailand, Philippines, singapore, Japan, South Korea, Saipan, Guam...i think that's all of 'em....
I have a funny story to share about scotland. My friends and I went out to get our drink on, bar hopping, and the first bar we stop in, we order drinks, having a good time, i gotta go to the bathroom. so off i go, i locate the bathroom, relieve myself, and on the way out, i paid closer attention to the vending machine located right next to the sinks.
I'm no stranger to bars, and bathrooms in bars. I was expecting this vending machine to have your typical array of condoms and the like, and it did. But what it also had, that I've never seen anywhere else was, a blow-up sheep!! that's right, a blow-up sheep, in a condom vending machine, in scotland!! When i told my friends about it, they didn't believe me. They all had to go look! It was hilarious!

Re: Holidays
The great Odini, Glad you had a good Holiday. Welcome back. I spent a short stint in Zagreb, Croatia several years back on a project. I also took pictures of the Old Churches and a lot of the Architecture. There is some beautiful scenery there.
