Busted at the Feed Store!

Post by SIXFOOTER »

Went by the feed store this morning to snag a bag of cracked corn and some sweet feed for a couple of upcoming projects. Got the corn, no problem, had some issues figuring out what sweet feed to get, skipped that and opted for just the corn figuring a lil more research was in order. Got to the checkout and the well built cutie at the till, She looks at me smiling and asks "Your not feeding a horse are you"? Laughing I said well no, she asks again smiling "Are you making moonshine?" Naturally I says No, that would be illegal, this is for my great grandmothers Corn Pone recipe.
She asks "Whats Corn Pone?",
All good, she was pretty funny, maybe it was the Hawaiian shirt I was wearing.

Wonder how that little gal got it in her head that people are buying it for moonshine. Bet her daddy's a moonshiner. I kinda wonder sometimes myself how much of that bagged feed in the Tractor Supply store finds its way to a fermenter.

Just sayin',

The manager of a feed store close by is a good friend of mine. About a year ago I asked her what she thought about that. She contemplated it for awhile and figured about 25 %. "Lot's of sales don't add up for anything else ", she said.

Yep, sometimes I wonder how many of ya'll I might be rubbing sleeves with in the Tractor Supply store. My daughter knows at least two people in my area that make moonshine - a co-worker and a friend of her boyfriend. They both buy their grain at the same Tractor Supply where I shop.

S Cak , I ,by the rumor mill , know of at least 10 stillers in my area that I may or may not rub elbows with at the local pub on date night for me and SOH . Never met them as distillers .Don't tell ..... Don't sell . Ya get shot down by mutual friends that have had a drop here and a drop there and talk out of turn about who made something good at the local pub . Makes conversation for them that makes them feel important when they have nothing interesting they've done in their own lives that is worthy of conversation .
Average minds discuss events , great minds discuss ideas ................. Small minds talk about what they 'think' their neighbors are doing because they have no life of their own .

I think if knowledge of what I'm doing ever got beyond my immediate family circle, I might even think about giving it up. The two guys my daughter knows about are both young (early 20's). The co-worker was openly selling to another co-worker in plain sight of my daughter. I guess they must have thought she was too unaware to know what they were doing. The friend of the boyfriend doesn't seem to sell, but he brings it to their little gatherings without seeming to care that everyone present knows what he's doing. Kinda blows me away that they have such a lackadasical attitude toward the whole thing. I don't know - maybe it's that whole youthful mind-set of invulnerability going on, or that they just don't see how much they have to lose.

Just sayin',
