New Copper Alembic Still Make?

Post by ukeman »

Hello,

I am looking at getting into home distilling. There are many brands of copper Alembic's on the internet. Lately, I have been looking at the ones offered by Mile Hi Distilling. Any comments on the quality of these stills? Where are they made? Any other suggestions for a quality Alembic? I have spoken to Mile Hi and they said shipping to Canada is not an issue. Any comments would be appreciated!

Thanks!

It sounds to me like they are importing these stills, I'm pretty sure we don't have any us makers that have been in production for 1,000 years as their add for these stills says the maker has been. (which tells me they are either from India or Pakistan most likely). Now as far as being the best for you, that will depend on what you are wanting to make and how you are going to make it. These days, most folks get a rig that can be set up as a pot still or a column still. The shape of an Alembic makes it a little harder to hide should you need to do so. They do look cool though.

Welcome aboard. Please step over to the welcome center and give us a proper intro.

There are only a couple of manufactures building those stills. And I didn't know mile high was now selling them?

Anyway. What are you planning to make with this still? And what size are you looking at?

They can make for a nice still. If bought in the correct size. And used for what they are intended to make.

They make a nice piece of art for the mantle. When the to small of one is bought.

Hi Ukeman,

Any updates on this? I myself saw these stills and was considering getting one.

Hey all, new to the forum and about a year into distilling. I bought a brand new still from whiskeystill.net and couldn't be happier. I believe they are made in Texas. I bought a 5 gal still, and for doing small batches, it is great. Beautifully made, looks to be hand hammered, I was hesitant to use it because it was so beautiful. Hope this helps!

I got my 20ltr alembic from these people:

Good quality with excellent customer service. Not affiliated to them in any way but I would suggest at least looking at some of their catalogue.

Most alembic stills are made in Portugal.

Who ever wrote sales info. Look at 10 gal one
An read what it can do.
Read a wee bit further an read the testimonial
. What percent warsh would it have to be to
Get between 2 and 4 gal out of 10.

Lol that's pretty funny. I am happy with mine, however it's not quite that efficient.
