Storage Jars?
What jars/vessels are you guys using for storing and ageing?

I store in glass, quart mason/ball jars and 1 gal. jugs. I age in wood barrels. there's lots of good info on here about aging in glass with wood cubes or sticks.

Re: Storage Jars?
Thanks for the quick response! In the UK, it seems that 1 gallon demijohns are more or less the only choice, they are fine for long term ageing, but the narrow neck makes them a PITA for getting oak sticks in and out.

Re: Storage Jars?
Barrels and Quart Mason jars. The mason jars are nice because a big chunk of wood drops in the top, I use 1x1x5" sticks of toasted and charred white oak, 1 per quart.
In theory there's no difference between theory and practice. But in practice there is.

Re: Storage Jars?
Wide mouth gallon or 1/2 gallon Mason jars for aging
stuffed with charred oak sticks - I tend to used
8 or 10 3/4" x 3/4" per gallon and age for between 3 and 4 months.
Storage is in whatever commercial bottles I have on hand,
we prefer 1/2 gallon sizes at home and fifths for travel.
