I spent yesterday on the mountain snow shoeing! Recommendation, be in great shape if you plan to spend 4 hours hiking on steep slopes. I am thankful I woke up this morning and am able to be vertical with the help of aspirin.
The day was great pushing close to 50 F, but the snow was old and very icy which made for some tough hiking, I actually fell twice hence the real reason for the aspirin as my back is probably a bit soarer than my legs.
I just spent the last 2 weeks on snowshoes escorting some enviro guys through an old artillery range to get water samples. Wasn't fun at all.
Gotta say though, every once in a while we'd stop to just look around and notice how beautiful winter can be.
We live less than a mile from a Nordic centre with 45 miles of cross country and snowshoe trails. Really is a great season if you can get past the cold.
Cold is easy, you can dress for it, you can't get away from the heat without going indoors. I spent full days in -35 without a hitch. Lots of layers and no cotton.
Very nice mate, that country would be enough to make anyone want to get fit and enjoy it, good on ya you should get some big feet molds on you snow shoes and do some hoaxing lol.
Here's to alcohol, the cause of, and solution to, all life's problems.

Something I might just do! How many of you when you get off an airplane tighten the seatbelt for the next passenger to make them feel heavy?
I did an arctic survival course in Canadia in I think 05. Hottest day was-37. Walked miles and miles and miles in snow shoes and taking turns pulling a sled. One day my guys and I had to do 13 miles in around four and a half hours. Balls smoked on that one. Learned some cool things about not dying in the cold though.

Beautiful Bushman. Was lucky enough to spend some time with my boy in Montana this summer doing some hiking in mountains. No shoe shoes, but there was a small glacier we climbed up and played with the dog on. Great times.
