Guess that's all the proof I need. As I stated in my original post, if I was mistaken I would apologize. Bobtail, I apologize to you for calling bullshit. I guess in hindsight I could have gathered a little more info. Wasn't trying to piss you off. As I stated, I am a skeptic. Especially when the news is bad. I'm a glass half full type of person I guess.

In theory there's no difference between theory and practice. But in practice there is.

thats crazy. why would anybody want to buy one knowing your name will be turned over to the law?
Re: Eating Crow
Yes sir. Stills, at least potstills, are simple to build. No reason to buy one aside from pure convenience. Roll up youre sleeves and cobble one together, LOTS of instruction here on HD to help out. Stills been around for 3000 years, if they were bangin em out BC, Im sure anyone can figure it out in this day and age. If youre a little crafty or ambitious you can make your own reflux still or plated column too.mickbear wrote: thats crazy. why would anybody want to buy one knowing your name will be turned over to the law?

Washington, DC — This week, Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB)IrishEnigma wrote:Can I get a summary of the article? It's not letting me open after I download. None of them actually. That's what I get for no internet and only a phone I guess
investigators conducted a joint operation with special agents from the Florida Division of
Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco targeting illegal possession of stills and illegal
production of distilled spirits.
The joint operation resulted in 8 arrests and seizure of 46 stills by Florida authorities.
The possession of unregistered stills and the production of distilled spirits without a
Federal permit and without payment of tax are Federal felony offenses which may result
in the seizure and forfeiture of land and other property associated with the illegal
activity.

I have no hard feelings about HBS as far as this is concerned. He's just following the law on his end

Re: Eating Crow
I wonder what the 8 arrests where. If they confiscated 46 stills I would think they are just looking to make headlines.
Re: Eating Crow
Im guessing, other shit. weed bla bla. How many times do you see a bust and news reports says ...and marijuana was siezed. Or maybe they had many gallons boxed up geared for sale?

I gather we have no knowledge of any specific people charged. I would like to see how they plan to defend themselves.

You can stop apologizing already!Truckinbutch wrote:I made an apology on another thread . I'll make it again here .
I would guess, since the TTB is involved, it has to do with them finding "over a certain amount/maybe any amount" of un-taxed liquor during the visit. ....and maybe finding it after the "perp" lied about having any hooch around to a Fed, perhaps tax evasion and interfering with an ongoing investigation, ...just guessing though.DuckofDeath wrote:I wonder what the 8 arrests where. ....or selling, ....or discovering other illegal activities during their visit. But, I suppose we will find out for sure in due time.

I'm guessing intent to sell? Not sure. If it was just hobby sized and they weren't cooperating/giving them a hard time then they probably just slapped their peepee.

My understanding is that possession of any stored liquor can be viewed as intent to distribute. I'm guessing those that were not arrested either had no liquor or had it hidden damn well.

Yes, but there has to be some limit that would be a minimum amount for there to be a chance of prosecution on that, and not just be used as a charge to drop for an incentive to get the offender to go for a plea bargain on some other charges.woodshed wrote:My understanding is that possession of any stored liquor can be viewed as intent to distribute. .......
They find a 1/2 pint of hooch, you think they would even try for intent to distribute? Manufacturing, probably. .....Intent to distribute, I don't think so.

Re: Eating Crow
Makes me wonder, if you were to age your hooch in a jd bottle with the label on it, and say there's a wood chip in it. Are they going to say it's home distilled or can you say you're aging jd and get away with it? That's if they haven't find your still yet. Or maybe they have and they're trying to get you for intent to distribute.Soggy Bottom Boy wrote:Yes, but there has to be some limit that would be a minimum amount for there to be a chance of prosecution on that, and not just be used as a charge to drop for an incentive to get the offender to go for a plea bargain on some other charges.woodshed wrote:My understanding is that possession of any stored liquor can be viewed as intent to distribute. .......
