Weight of stave vs rough oak ?

Post by bigbone32 »

Hello all. I ordered some oak from the link below on eBay. I also bought a couple used barrel staves from a place in Kentucky. The oak from the eBay seller is substantially lighter in weight than the stave oak when comparing comparable size pieces. Anyone know why this would be or any thoughts? Thanks.

Most likely it is moisture content the ebay sticks haven't been used since toasting. My guess.
