Im making a sugar wash for Vodka used to make flavoured schnappses. But I read that up to 80% of the flavors in whisky come from the oak casks. And I like whisky
Can I fake whisky by aging the vodka on oak and adding a few kernels of crystal malt?
IMHO, you would get better results for vodka using o the neutral wash recipes in the tried and true section, do good cuts and aging in glass. For a great whiskey, use the Sweetfeed or UJSSM recipe, do good cuts and age on charred sticks or charred keg. I don't see much sense making a vodka, then try to make it taste like whiskey.
Good luck.
