BB you took the words out of my mouth. When I first looked at the picture I thought for sure it was a joke!

But I'm pretty sure you are going to have to rename your parrot to the parakeet it just fits too well

No joke,
My main goal here was to make it small enough so there was less smearing but still functionable.

Hopefully it works and not just a joke.

The body is 1" pipe with in/outlet 1/2"OD ref tubing

I like it! That micro hydrometer won't be super accurate, but for what we do, should be fine.

LOL - a budgie

I am going to pick one up for shits n giggles - maybe build some sort of attachable budgie to the still output (vented of course) ... just watch though - they have a alcoholmeter, and they have a hydrometer that they call an alcoholmeter that measures sugar content - get the right one

T-Pee just directed me over to this thread and I think it's a perfect solution for small batch proofing. I just ordered one. Time to start designing a parakeet.

I ordered 2 (cheaper - the freight only an additional $1.50 or so on the second) and in case 1 breaks I dont have a useless budgie

I was going to order two but it looked like they were going to charge me for double the freight. So I went with one for now. Once I get it, and if it works, I will most likely order a back-up.

Looks like you didn't make it quite tall enough to leave room for some scrubbie at the bottom to protect the mini-alcy-meter from breaking if it bottoms out hard when you put it in the budgie/parakeet. ...just a thought.

Just to add I never thought this was a joke, I appologize if my joking on the name came across that way.

I like it, and will probably copy the idea at some point when I have some extra money to spend.

Thanks for sharing

Don't need a scrubbie, just dont drop it in ... never broke one that way (yet!) and I prefer no packing incase I puke on an all grain strip run and the scrubbie gets clogged ...

And to the OP, like WLR said - thanks for sharing, and great find!!!

Just got my mini hydrometer and really love it. It works just fine so now I can build a mini parot that is attached to the condenser. Now I have room and less smearing. Going to order 2 more.

I have been using the same one for some time now. The one for the for the mash or wash is kinda hard to read, just gives you a % of sugar no gravity.
