Solar heating pump for cooling system?

Post by Jolly John »

I'm looking to buy a pump for my condenser water cooling system, found this type of pump after talking to a fellow brewer, who uses one to pump wort, say's they are brilliant. It is submersible or 1/4" pipe thread for external hose connection, and are cheap. I can set it up with a reservoir tank/car radiator set-up, with about a metre head, and it should pump at a rate of 9 litres/minute or 2 gallon imperial, 2.4 US.

Is anyone using one? Is this flow rate enough? My thoughts are that it should plenty.

It's more than enough. My liebig at 5500Watt still consumes around 1.5LPM

This is the one I use. Gives me about 2.5 gpm at 8' head. 12 volt run through a led light transformer.
I have one for each still. Mounted on planter dollies and 30 feet of cord so I can move them around the distillery easily in case I need one as a backup somewhere else.
