Douglas Fir

Post by buflowing »

Anyone try douglas fir tips as a flavoring for gin/genever? Wondering how you used them and how it came out. I'm going to try a separate maceration/redistillation with the tips in the boiler and see how it goes. Will use to blend if ok.

Clear Creek Distillery in Portland Oregon did a Pine/ Fir sort of
liquor - I thought it was horrid as did my wife.

I tried this stuff from pine:

God it tasted like sucking on a piece of lumber ... exceptionally shittastic ...

Then there was the kook that went on the Dragons Den with Birch Sap Vodka ... lol ... first thing one of them said was "Ahhh!!! I'm blind!!!" http://www.sapworld.ca/products.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow

Want to keep people from consulting idiots on youTube about distilling?? Don't be an idiot when someone asks for advice ... Help them

Used to hunt mule deer in the Cascades. A Blue Grouse flew up into a tree so I knocked him down with a .22 and took him back to camp. That's when I found out that they feed on Doug Fir tips. Might as well have been chicken soaked in turpentine. :(

I imagine anything else that comes near Doug Fir tips would likely taste the same.

Good grief. I'm laughing my ass off. Universally panned by all respondents.
