What exactly is candy cane flavor? Is it peppermint? If yes you cam try mintpiss. Take a handful of peppermint leaves. Fresh. Put them in a qt jar. Top up with 600 ml of 95% neutral. Let it macerate for 24 hours. And pull the leaves out. Make a simple syrup. 1 cup sugar in 1 cup water. Heat to melt. Let cool. Mix 300 ml of the 95% minted alcohol with 500 ml simple syrup. It will ne roughly 35% ABV. And you have mintpiss.
It'snotsocoldnow.

Why not just make a batch of neutral and drop one or two of those little candy canes per jar

I make a Christmas drink thats good and easy. Get urself a bag of those soft peppermint balls. Add 10 balls to a qt. of sprits. It turns to a pinkish red color and we call it "Santas little helper"

I nuked some neutral with the hard peppermint round candy once and it turned out pink but taste was great. The sugar separates in the fridge but a good shake fixes it. Also did some red hots in a batch was pretty good not PP's Firepiss but was decent drink.

I dissolved a bunch 15-20 little candy canes in a quart of white rum last year. Did have some sediment in it but it was easily racked off. Mixed with hot chocolate ( the real kind made with fresh farm milk and chocolate) was a smooth dangerous drink on a cold snowy day.

I made some that was pretty good i would say. 1/2 gallon water boiled with cup of sugar and 6 candy canes. After cooled, added pint of 175 proof neutral and 2 tsp of Peppermint extract. Added 2 more candy canes for good measures and they where resolved by the morning. Nice seasonal/festival drink but something i wouldn't want to drink all the time.
