keg for mashing

I am building my first pot still with a sanke keg. I will be installing a ball valve for draining. I will also be mashing only All grain

I was wanting to buy a 10+ gallon stock pot to heat my strike water before putting in my mash tun(cooler), then i had an idea and i wanted to get some opinions on it.
instead of spending money on a ss stock pot of some sort, why couldnt i just use my keg. then i could easily drain the strike water into the mash tun via the ball valve on my keg. I could just tie a float thermometer to a string and lower into the keg to check the water temp.

Any problems that i dont see?

That's what most people do. Why spend more money when you can utilise what you already have

I new it could be a obvious question but wasnt sure what the norm is. Just wanted to make sure there wasnt a flaw in my way of thinking. always trying to save where i can

Check Brutal's recent thread on a steamer rig for mashing . That appealed the most to me because I normally ferment large batches and had shied away from AG because of my keg boiler size .
