Weldless Ball Valve on Kettle?

Watched this video about adding a weldless ball valve on a kettle. I was thining of doing this to empy out my boiler wihtout dissasembling it all just to reload it. The gasket would be in the still beer so it wouldn't theoretically stay in the vapor path. I'm assuming you guys would be against it, but what are your thoughts?

Your thinking is in line with many folks here. Personally, I wouldn't worry about a silicone o-ring below the liquid level. It is considered safe for boiling beer, so I don't see how this application would be any different.

If I went this route I would wrap the o ring with ptfe tape. Also consider soldering a bung into your boiler. Several threads here on how it is done and really not difficult.

Soldering to stainless? I'll have to do some googling

Silver solder. Plenty of threads here on how to do it properly.

Any posts you find from Corene on the subject are basically made of solid gold.

no googling necessary, just use the search button here. I followed pyewacket's thread and was dog simple. So far soldered a copper cap to stainless, and a stainless bung to stainless pot. Both look like tig welds.

Most of the milk can boilers on the market have a weldless drain valve. Most likely, all of them have a silicon gasket. I wouldn't fret about a silicon gasket in the boiler. Just don't fill your boiler with high proof alcohol.
