Ok what's a UAVC?
Ugly Ass Voltage Controller
Based on Cranky's Super Simple Controller. This cost me $6.50 for the Relay from Amazon. Everything else was repurposed from junk around my shop. It's not pretty but it gets the job done.
Basically it's just a 220v controller running from 2 separate 110v outlets that are on different phases. Can also easily run off 1 phase for 110v operation.

Not bad. Curious as to how you are getting to 220v from two 110v outlets. Did you wire the outlets to insure they were out of phase? One other observation, not sure you are getting the best airflow across that heatsink. It's not turned the right way, plus you could add some vents directly across from the fan which I assume is pulling air out?
edit: not trying to be critical, just wondering how much heat will accumulate in there running 220v.

Re: My UAVC
Humbledore,
I initially tested this without a fan. Got a little warm but not hot. I know the fan is not optimal but it does a fair amount of cooling just moving a little air in there. The whole thing was stone cold after a run.
That being said, I couldn't push past 160v on my little rig without puking. In truth I only needed just a little boost from 110v to 140v to get where I wanted to be.
Here is a crappy sketch of how I get 220v. Don't have time at the moment to sit down and do a proper drawing. left out some stuff but the basic idea is there. I believe the idea came from Prairie or TP can't remember where I saw it... Sorry, somewhere in the billion pages of info here.
