Infrared burners?
Being a beer brewer crossing over I'm already missing my gas burner and the instant heat control it provides. After my first run on my pot still I was very unhappy with how long my electric burner reacted to heat changes. Currently I'm using a 1500watt ceramic type. I've done a search on here and it is only bringing back infrared thermometers. Do any of you use infrared electric burners? If so do you have recommendations? From what I've researched they should give me much better response and use less energy and cooler surfaces. I'm not talking about induction burners either but basic Infrared that all types of cookware can be used on. I don't want to use gas as a beginner for obvious safety reasons. Thanks!

Re: Infrared burners?
I can't answer your question directly but I do know that as beginners most of us used an open flame and I'd say the majority still do. Just avoid any actions or oversights that could result in a vapor leak and you're fine.
Most that do use electricity use direct immersion such as an element from a water heater. Plenty of controller designs around.
