Took the leap

Post by Boxcutter »

Decided to try and put some wood in my drink. Toasted some cherry,Apple, pecan yesterday toasted it at 300 degrees for 3 hours. This morning put 1/2 ounce in 2 pint jars and 3/4 ounce in 2 pint jars. The color looks awesome so far but the wood chips have sunk to the bottom in 3 out of the 4 jars. Is this normal ? Fingers crossed that I'm doing it right.

It is normal. As they become saturated, they sink...

Give em a shake every day or 2 it helps, just took some off french oak and put cherry in for a couple weeks. You will love aging on wood
the problem is sampling.Your batch seems to be tasted to the last drop just when it starts to get real good lol.

Use this as a guideline for wood prep.
