Bought one at Home Depot the other day it was 6 gal and the same diameter as my 5 gal pot so the cover of the old one fit just perfect.
I ran my Pilsner LME batch yesterday and when I went to clean up today I noticed that the copper fitting on the inside of the SS salad bowel I converted into a domed top for the still had a sliver colored deposit on it. It wipe off w/a cloth. Any idea what that was/is? I washed to pot before using it w/soap, but now I'm thinking I should have boiled some water or something else before running my Pilsner.
Hope I didn't create a poison that may kill me.

So no cleaning run?
I just re read this. That would be your problem right there.
It could be anything. I still suspect oils of some description.

Thanks for the replys. It's not the first run for the column only the boil pot. Still think it's a dumper? I've distilled 5 or 6 patches thru the column using the 5 gallon boil pot.
