4 month old batch

So I have a little under a gallon of UJ sitting on three oak staves. First batch I properly oaked. My initial batch I did with spirals that were not properly charred, too much tannins so I am trying to rectify that with some oak.

Back to my story. So tomorrow will be 4 months. Just tasted at 40% and damn if it isn't better than just about anything I have had. Don't want to get greedy, and I have seen 6 months the minimum, but what says the consensus of when to drink? Should I age after I oak for even better flavor? I am a relative newbie to the hobby and I have heard "if you like it, drink" and other such wisdoms. just wanted to get a some perspective.

When I'm running low on white. I start sampling the amber aged liquor.
I try not to let that happen.
40 proof sounds low, did you mean 40% ?

When to drink? That's all up to you. The longer it ages the better it will be. But if you are happy with it, enjoy it.

4 months seems to be the minimum . according to jimbo "some magical shit happens at 4 months"

I say keep it on oak as long as you like it , once you take it off it will continue to age. just don't want to over oak it. less oak and more time seems like the motto around here. you only using 3 oak sticks I think is on the lower end of oaking for a gallon. so that works.

what proof are you oaking at?

proofing at 62% ABV. thanks for the wisdom so far. I think Jimbo is right. I took same tastes earlier on and nothing like what happened at the 4 month mark.
