Where can you buy Sweet Feed in Washington State?
OK, help me out folks. I've been trying to source a supplier in Western Washington for some bags of plain old sweet feed that you all are using. Well, so far I haven't had any luck. Anybody have any leads as to where I can procure some? All I can find locally so far is the usual stuff with pellets, alfalfa, additives, etc. I just want to find some bags of good old sweet feed. If you know of a source, your help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Easiest alternative would be to buy the separate grains (cracked corn, oats, barley) and mix it in equal parts, then add molasses to your taste. Most feed stores will have the separate grains. If not, you can make substitutions like corn flakes, Quaker Old Fashioned Oats, barley from a brew supply store. If you buy whole grains like oats and barley from the feed store, be sure to ask for untreated grains - some seed grains are treated with chemicals that you may not want in your ferments.
If you can't find one of the grains, you can also substitute other grains like wheat or rye. Don't get discouraged. Getting the ingredients for SF is probably the most bothersome part of the recipe. If all else fails, try another recipe until you find a source for the SF mix. UJSSM would be a good alternative. It's basically the same process.

You might look also for COB. This is sweet feed (Corn Oats Barley) but it's called cob. Make sure to check the ingredients label, it should only list the grain and molasses.

Hi Stainless dude,
I'm down on the Kitsap Peninsula, but thanks for the offer.
