Both are actually useful. A hydrometer is used for OG and FG of a mash/wash.
An Alcoholmeter comes into play while proofing out of the still and for your ABV cut.
Two totally different and very fragile tools.

Distilling at 110f and 75 torr.

An ethanol refractometer would be handy too. Better than a parrot.
