Hope you all are having a great time together. Picked up a bottle (yes, it hurt) from the store because I couldn't chance bringing my own across border. On my way to Minneapolis for appointments for oldest. Stopped at The Edge in duluth to let the kids have fun for a night. So looking out the balcony in your general direction best I could get, here's a toast to you. To great friends I have yet to meet! Na zdravie!

Tonight was the apex of the trip. MichaganCornHusker showed up today and after a dinner of steak and ribs, opened his bottle of 159year old calvados! What a perfect treat for us to share. It was spectacular! After that a guitar show with Jimbo and Shed with T-Pee on vocals( who would think?). Absolutely perfect day here in Colorado.

And some of Jimbo's as well as a Ketel One bottle that must contain no less than Big R's take on an all wheat genever! Darn, and I am missing this!

To use T-Pee's memorable quip from earlier, here's A "this is the opposite of suck" view from Woodshed's back porch. He subjected us to this all day yesterday. Even hailed on us once during a passing thunderstorm.

Wow, give Jimbo an electric guitar and it's a treat. A multi-talented artist doing Jimmy Page riffs and Chicago Blues for a good part of the evening after that fine dinner. Thanks to Johnnie and BigBob for the steaks and ribs.

To say it was an Incredible time last night would be the understatement of this whole thread. Deer log from Jed was amazing, thanks bud. Perfect for soaking up all the ethanol we were pourin in our bellies. Here's a shot of corhuskers special 159 year old surprise. This was bottled the year Lincoln accepted the Republican nomination for senate and Minnesota was accepted as the 32nd state. Cork was dry and crumbly but still serving it purpose as the bottle top was dipped in clay. Bottle still full. The brandy was amazing, deep and rich, beautiful flavor. Fruit, raisons, apple no bite at all.

The likker was abundant, varied, and excellent. Me and my buddy hit every bottle there too. Lots of new things to make when I get home.

100% good folks. It was great and I wouldn't have had it any other way.

Now that you mention it, I think I did, but since I was only tasting with my imagination, I might have imagined it.

Man what to say about this gathering, its no less than completely surreal.Days of eating like kings, wayyy too much fantastic booze, amazing fellowship, beautiful surroundings and the most hospitable great hosts one could ever ask for. Jed, your 9 grain has a very similar nose to my 7 grain imho, but is a bit better on the oak flavor. Its not got too much burn also IMHO, but there's a reason I bottle whiskey for myself around 90-96 proof, cause I like my whiskey to have some huevos when I drink it...Dear god, my wife and I truly never want to leave

The nine grain is a double scorch. It had a scorched single malt wheat strip run in it. It is a multiple stripped and cut down with fresh mash for spirit run. On spirit run had smoke right as product started. Shut down and cleaned element and recharged. It is also very young went on oak (heavy char no toast)10 march of this year.

Thanks for taking the time and keeping us updated. I enjoyed following the thread and raising a glass at your exploits!

Sounds like Woodshed was a great host! -- Glad the guitar has a final home!

You guys may have started something! I wonder what S3 might look like in 10years?
