Fermenting for a cause
Took the wife and kids out to eat at this place firehouse subs. They were founded by firemen and still do lots of work to support firemen and first responders. Anyway, they sell their used pickle buckets for $2 a pop and the profits go directly to first responders and local firemen. These are 5 gallon hdpe buckets with snap on lids. I bought 5 buckets for $10 and hope to use them for small batch experiments. Felt good to support those who help us in our time of need and get some fermenting buckets in the process.
No, officer, I wasn't distilling alcohol! It was probably that guy!

Re: Fermenting for a cause
Good find, good price, and a damned good cause. I've heard it said that it's almost impossible to get the pickle smell out of them, but I've also read here on the forums that the pickle odor doesn't carry over to the finished product. Good luck with them and let us know how they work for you.
