WOW! Huge bust. Hard to think that he/she would be selling. Worried about kids casue of fumes. I guess police have to or should check out every call but how bought busting some criminals. Least the cops didn't try to look like a hero.

Doesn't say whether a warrant was served or not. It sort of looks like the still could be seen right through the kitchen window anyway, so the police would have probable cause to enter once it was spotted after arriving to check it out on an anonymous tip.
The still looks like a fairly decent build, and not a total POS. Wonder if he is a HD member?
So, some lessons to be learned here:
Don't set up and run your still where it can be seen from outside, or seen from your front porch if you open the door to see who rang the doorbell.
Don't let the cops inside your house if they do not have a warrant to enter the premises.
Don't distill in the house if you have minors present in the house, distill in a detached garage, shop, shed, or other out-building.
....and finally,
Don't be a Mrs. Hogwallop and "R-U-N-N__O-F-T" leaving your girlfriend holding the smoking gun, be a man, .....hell, be a Dapper Dan man!

Well, you and I know that they just piled that on to be used as leverage to get a stronger plea bargain case out of the "perpetrator" of this heinous crime!bellybuster wrote:Child endangerment?? Really?. That's a stretch
If you don't add on a bunch of BS charges, you don't have any charges to drop so the perp thinks he's getting a better deal on pleading guilty for what you really want to convict him on. Frankly, I'm surprised that they gave the kids to relatives instead of Child Services to hold them as bargaining chips, which is the modus-operandi for law enforcement in my neck of the woods.

Funny watching the comments and seeing a commenter ("Jeff King") setting people straight. I wouldn't have the patience for that.

Agreed... The only part that worries me would be the floor flange, used to attch the column to the pot. Mostly all the ones I've seen are cast carbon steel, or aluminum. That doesn't mean stainless ones don't exist, though.Soggy Bottom Boy wrote:

WOW, them comments are something! Gotta agree with 'FREE America Lost' rant. (no Im not him). Funny Jeff King calling this place his website. How would they find him when to be their defense if they clicked on the link, he's not a member here! Altho I did find a couple references to his workbook.
In theory there's no difference between theory and practice. But in practice there is.

Johnson County is (or used to be) "dry" so there are a fair number of folks there that think that any alcohol is evil and home-made even more so. Still, I suspect there was someone with a personal axe to grind involved in this.
