Plastic still banned on HD why?

Post by partyboy »

In my opinion this rule is ridiculous!
Why is there are problem to have a category for this type of stills?
I am using 2 stills and one of them is plastic with a copper spiral and i am prohibited to write about it here! And i am working on a third still in stainless steel.
Because it is considered unsafe? By who and why?
I mean ecery type of still is dangerous in some way i mean you got to know what youre doing or you are in for a very nasty surprise!
One could imagine a state where shining is legal and the government is losing taxes, therefore moonshining is an illegal practice. It is perfectly safe the problem is greedy governments. Not health or poisonus shine as they claim!

I'm sorry to hear that you have a plastic distiller and that you are writing about it here and that you don't know why it might not be safe to use. It's not too difficult to read and understand why it has been determined that plastic isn't safe.

Most importantly - this is Uncle Jesse's website and he sets the rules. Maybe you could PM him and have that discussion.
Every new member should read this before doing anything else:

I know that this site belongs to Uncle Jesse but that does not answer my questions.
At first i was kind of reluctant to post this question but i need to find out why!
Why should i pm him? Id rather post it here in public.
I mean is it wrong to have a discussion about it.....

It all deals with safety. In the commercial industry some plastic is used in the collection stages but it is a well tested plastic. I think I read somewhere that there are multiple variations and only one will not breakdown with the high alcohol content. Since most of our members are not scientists or experts in this field we have banned the use of plastic in any part of the still that is in contact with the vapor or the alcohol liquid for those reasons. If you spend any time on the forum you will see that safety is our main concern. With that I am locking the topic and if you want to find out more do the research we require.
