Needed - Used Distilling Equipment...

Post by BoomTown »

Well, more precisely, right now we need a bottling unit. I'm thinking a small 2 to 4 bottle, gravity feed unit that can handle bottles sizes from 375m. to 1.5 liter.

We are also now starting to buy SS ware too. We just bought a new pot still, and mash tun, but are still looking for bargains in those units, as what we bought we consider to be 'start up' sizes. We are looking for SS fermenters, dish shaped - not funnel shaped.

And we need a grain/fluid separator. Probably need any C-clamp fittings, or larger food grade pumps you might have tucked away too.

We are rocking and rolling overhere, and will listen to anyone pitch anything...at least for a while. You call - we talk, or pm me if you don't already have my number.

There must be a site that lists equipment from distillers going out of business or moving to larger facilities. I haven't visited the ADI site in a while but they might have a dedicated thread for used equipment.

look for restaurant equipment and dairy equipment at auctions.

there was some big milk pastuerizers at a recent auction here, i'm still kicking my ass for not buying them, you know...just in case. 1800 bucks, it had a (about 7-10 HP)stirrer, (5HP)pump and piping, and about 4 triclamps on top of various size and huge manway...all on a 500L steam jacketed tank!
I finally quit drinking for good.

now i drink for evil.

Medstiller has turned up some really nice equipment for sale recently, some of which is commercial. He found me the perfect mash tun for a fraction of what I was willing to pay. I almost got a matching SS fermenter to go with it on a great deal but I ran out of cash.

There is a grist mill that has been on Craigslist since the start of summer. It's worth over 3k retail. The guy is at $1,000 obo and now open to trade. I emailed an inquiry in July with no response...

Overall Craigslist is a great place to poke around. My advice is to look in areas outside your bubble. If a member such as yourself asked me to purchase and hold an item for them, I would. I am also pretty sure there is at least a few hundred other active members that would do the same thing.

Craigslist is a good place to start. Also try restaurant auctions, dairy surplus. If you have a good welder then you can mod stuff to your spec. Here is something that came up today:
150 gallon pasteurizer

Happy Thanksgiving all.

For those do not live in the U.S.A., this is a holiday when a great number of Americans crowd a certain street in New York to watch a bunch of balloons and marching bands, while the NBC broadcasting network promotes numerous of it's programs and broadway show investments for several hours. NBC 'owns' this TV day. The traditional belief about the holiday generally promoted is that it started when early settlers shared food with some native America tribes to celebrate a successful harvest. The actual practice now seems to be a formal kickoff of the annual spending spree that most American businesses depend on leading up to Christmas. The holiday also involves an enormous feast shared by seldom seen relatives and friends, long journeys, and college football.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, it seems we've over bought an inventory of 53 Gallon New White Oak whiskey barrels as we kickstart our new distillery. While I love looking at these Missouri produced barrels,, and we fully intend to spend the next 3 months filling them up, we'll simply not be able to fill them all. Anyone wanting to buy one from us should let me know in a PM, and we'll try to figure something out.

Meantime, in all seriousness, it is my hope that where ever you are, you are living in pease and harmony, surrounded by your good friends and loved ones, and are poised to set back on this day and reflect on the successes you had for this year, and appreciate the blessing that surround you.

Have a safe, warm, and wonderful holiday!

Hey, there's another great American TV tradition, and no, I'm not talking about football.

I mean the Mystery Science Theater 3000 Turkey Day Marathon. It used to be 30 straight hours, but these days it's down to 12.

It's the show where a guy has been shot into space by mad scientists, and is forced to watch horrible movies. To stay sane he built a few robots, and he and two of the bots sit in a row of theater seats and make fun of the movie.

It starts at noon, and you can catch it at http://bringbackmst3k.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow this year.
