Plastic containers from china?

So I bought 2 50L plastic "soon to be" fermenters from a guy on kijiji. He shows up and I look at the containers and there are no stamps.... no HDPE no recyclable.... no nothing! Can I trust them? They were used to ship food products from china to (here), but can I trust them long term?

if i was you, i would ask myself... do you feel lucky? chinese are known for unscrupulous practices.

HDPE is a standard that we trust. for safety sake i would not ....

Nothing against the chineese...but there has been some issues with their quality standarts.
I wouldn't trust those enough to put a ferment in them.

Given the history of toxic materials being included in Chinese products I would not use the containers as fermenters. Maybe for grain storage but that's about it ... nothing involving any kind of elevated temperature or exposure to any amount/percentage of alcohol.

Thanks, I found a supplier for real 15 gallon HDPE barrels. Unfortunately they don't have the same wide mouth lid
