Smoking while stilling

Would it be a bad Idea to smoke cigarettes near a still? As long as there is no ethanol vapor is a lighter flame a problem? It can't be worse than a propane burner...

People will freak on this but here is the thing. You got a smoke in your mouth and a giant flame thrower under the still shooting fire at it. Which is the greater threat? Besides you can put a cigarette out in a jug of booze.

I smoke like a coal fired locomotive. That being said, I do put the cig down or out before approaching the still. It just became second nature to me.

Practice safe smoking. If that is even possible.

with good ventilation and caution not to get the cig anywhere near the output, across the shed, i dont see how its a threat

Right now I am lucky enough to call a box of these my own. Hand rolled by our very own HDNB.

Otherwise my favorite commercial cigars are Rocky Patels in a maduro wrapper. When I can't find those then I go with something from the Partagas Black Label lineup.

Lucky buggers, cigars are just too expensive here these days with our outlandish sin tax. Cigarettes are around a dollar each (80 or so cents tax) god knows what cigars are but I would guess around 5 dollars for the cheap shit and rising rapidly from there

Yep. Used to be as cheap as that. The gov is trying to make NZ a smoke free country by 2025. When I started smoking, a 50g was about $25. I stopped two years ago when a 30g hit $40

I will chime in as this is perfect for me!

as a "stiller" who runs indoors ( if you want to look under history and folklore there is a thread some shwigg made about me running indoors like a lot of people), you can throw a lit ciggerate into a bucket of gasoline and it will not ignite. Are the vapors flammable? Yes! Are alcohol vapors flammable? YES! Are the powers at be arseholes? Yes!

Don't let that stop you from doing what YOU want to do! WE ARE NOT LIABLE!!!!


FACT: Will a lit cigg or cell phone set off a fireball? No. No it will not.


Btw, I run indoors with TONS of ventilation. Am I a dumbarse? Maybe! Only to some people's opinion(which Are like buttholes...some stink-some don't) then again, some people vote for SOCIALISTS!

Are there others that distill indoors? YES!

Should you ventilate indoors? YES! MORE THAN YOU THINK YOU SHOULD.

Smoke free ha that's a laugh, don't believe it, they found a guilt tax and they are gonna milk this sucker dry as they have found a plato they are branching into alcohol now, you guys will fall in the same trench. Here this is from a few yesrs back so figures have doubled but ya get the idea, to many gave up last year and they got so scared they hated all planned hikes till 2017.

The only time I ever was careful about no ciggie was dumping the pre-heater into the still. The pre-heated wash was always the boiling point of the wash and the ABV of the vapor was whatever it was.

But seriously, I run in my garage with doors cracked open a few inches and an exhaust fan In the wall pulling air from the output side of my rig to the outside.
