Just want to check my plan is good to Convert to Elec with

Ive been distilling for about 4 years now. Converting to an electric Keg still and wanted to run this past you guys before moving forward. Comments and such are welcome.

I used phone cord to connect the potentiometer to the SSR

I more just copied Jimbos build, couldn't be happier.
I'm sure yours will work too, I've no experience with the SRR ones, just put the right female socket in your basket

I'm not opposed to a plug and play rig by any means. Know where i can purchase that unit that isn't ebay and I don't have to wait on shipping from China?

+1 for stainless base element.

I have the same one you're looking at and I'm very proactive with wiping the base down after using it and the rust is still starting to build up on it. I've been using it for about a year for beer and stilling. It's only a few bucks more, but I'd say worth the peace of mind.

But the female socket is rated for 110v and 15 amp, I would venture a guess that the 220v socket is four pronged as it's male counterpart is

I used the l6-30 locking plugs too... I liked them better than the big dryer plugs and wires. Easier for me to handle and they carry 30 amps. Pretty easy to put together a plug, too, even using #10 stranded. The only problem is they are EXPENSIVE. The wall receptacle and its corresponding male plug, and the other end with the male plug on the pigtail at the heating element along with the female receptacle on the end of the controller cable, all together cost me $111, just for some plugs!

The nice thing about the L14-30 is that since it includes neutral, you can also pick off 120V from it. It is also a generator standard. My gen uses it and my electrical panel has a manual transfer switch built in. So I've standardized on that type because I already have an extension cord that I use when the power is out and I don't expect to be stillin' when on gen power.

I completely agree! I didn't think about that until afterwards. It would have been nice to have 120v available in my controller, because I could wire a little transformer in there and set up a 12vdc circuit for a fan on the heatsink. I don't really need 120v for anything else on that circuit. Right now I just point a little portable fan at it, and the thing stays room temperature cool.

You've already got 120 in your control box from the 4 wire dryer cord. I thought this pair was for connecting the element.
