I found some yeast
on line, how do I know if it is useable for distilling?
I know any yeast will work, but some will only give a low abv,

Re: yeast question
I didn't see a brand other than bakers yeast so I am guessing fermentation would be close to the same temps as Red Star or Flieshmans. You can get Red Star in bulk cheaper than that price at least at Costco.

Re: yeast question
Not familiar with that yeast.
Try this: http://www.amazon.com/Red-Star-Active-Y ... star+yeast" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow
Do you not have a store near you?

Re: yeast question
Yes it will work. It says it's active yeast. No yeast should have any problem getting to the ABV needed for distillation.

Re: yeast question
Round here there is a store called Cash and Carry that has the 2 pound brick for $6.79. Not sure if there us anything like that near you so amazon might be a good option.
