Baking/drying your own american oak (help needed)

I have offcuts of oak that i got from a door company, am i best to put it through a mulcher/chipper and than putting it on the bbq ot is it best in the oven? Either way is there a spacific temp and time? Thank you

Don't turn it into chips. Split it with an axe or wedge. You'll get less in grain. Char the ends at least.

See the charts for time and temp to toast.

split as per DAD300's suggestion. do not char the end grain (that will give you off flavors) Think of how a cask is charred (on the inside only and the ends (end grain) is never charred. Whisky ages by movement into and out of the wood. TPee's post is excellent by the way.
