I have a question. I use turbo yeast grain and sugar in my mash. The other day I made a 16 gallon mash. 16 # of grain 20 # sugar and 12 TBL turbo yeast. Ran over like a broken washing machine. My question is did I use to much turbo yeast and how much is suggested for a 16 gallon mash?
Thanks
turbo yeast

Re: turbo yeast
How much Turbo yeast for a 16 gallon ferment???.......NONE!
I can't recommend ANY amount of it. Try looking in the Tried & True recipe forum. There's a few sugar wash recipes there that will get you some good clean alcohol. And, switch to the baker's yeast you can find in your local grocery store.
Be safe. Be responsible. And be discrete.

Re: turbo yeast
Point of reference....turbo yeast is packaged with nutrients....lots of them. It makes the yeast crazy with excitement. They just can't stop chomping. They voraciously consume the sugars and produce alcohol. But they also produce by-products...lots and lots of by-products. Some here say, "they'll piss in your ferment".
So, turbo yeasts are NOT recommended at all. We promote quality instead of quantity.
Don't make a "rookie" mistake.
