I too, followed this recipe aside from the orange extract, and I like it!!! Really like it. Wife likes it! (bonus points for me)...photo below. Background is some Bourbon/Sweetfeed that I'm charring up...the chips are on the Bar b Que as I write this...

I'm going to experiment and see if the Dried Black walnut hulls I have from the Health food store are any good for use as a colorant. It will probably have to have the color extracted by the vodka first and then adjusted to make the correct color in the Jager. I'll keep you posted. you wont' need the wallnuts with the given recipe...comes out nice and black....just like the real thing....trust me..the rootbeer extract does the job
