Specific Brand/References for Cheap Cooling Pump?
I'm about to do my 6th and 7th runs this weekend.
The old copper coil cooling is finally wearing me thin.
I built a nice long 32" liebig out of all copper. I installed unions on my still so swapping between the coil and the Liebig is easy as pie.
I'm looking for a pump now. I have a 30 liter beach cooler I will use for a basin for my water (same one I run my coil in now)
I assume I now need a pond pump of some kind to suck the water out of the basin, push it up the liebig and back into the basin to keep it circulating now with tubes attached etc obviously.
Can anyone recommend me some actual pumps they use that are not too expensive and reliable? I am only running 5-6 gallon mashes through my still at a run so no need for heavy industrial flow rate. I run at a very low broken stream usually with my coil. Just tired of the bulk of it and having to drain and add cooler water or ice/snow from the yard 3 to 4 times a run.
Any links, product names etc would be very appreciated so I have a place to start/get an idea of what I should begin to look for.
Thanks in advance all.
I love this forum, a mountain of knowledge thus far it has been!

Awesome!
Thanks guys, bang on what I was looking for.
Forgive the novice questions here but I'm assuming these would be submersible pumps with water intake built into it?
I would then just need to worry about tubing from the pumps water outlet, attach to bottom of the condensor and then tubing from the top of condensor to get the water back to the reservoir correct?
Found a nice little one online that's about 80 gallons per hour, would that do the trick you think?

+1, i've been running the same two pumps for almost 3 years, when you buy pumps like these just be sure to look at the capabilities, or head lift, and make sure it's gonna work for your set-up. mine are Harbor Freight.Coyote wrote:Harbor freight 1/4" ten bucks

Well, as you are only running with a small reservoir, maybe your solution would be to buy one like mine..?
I've run it for two years now without any trouble, even have a spare one just in case.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Fall-Hydrop ... 1180138895" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow
The liftheight is 1,2 M on this one, i got one almost identical with a liftheight of 1,5 m...both deliver 600 L/hr, which should be more than adequate for your setup.
Be aware of the liftheight as this truely indicates the capacity of a pump.
Costs are under 10 $ and free shipping.

+1 head lift to get water up to your coil is the most important thing to look for. If you are just cooling a liebig for a pot still, almost any cheap pond pump will do. Don't try and use a sump pump as they are not continuous duty like a pond pump.firewater69 wrote: +1, i've been running the same two pumps for almost 3 years, when you buy pumps like these just be sure to look at the capabilities, or head lift, and make sure it's gonna work for your set-up. mine are Harbor Freight.
