Sugar, and all about sugar washes. Where the primary ingredient is sugar, and other things are just used as nutrients.

My particular location surrounds me in orchards and fruit processing plants. Figure I can get a drum of unpasteurized apple juice on the cheap, so I aim to try that. Some friends and I tried cherries last year. Turns out there ain't enough sugar in that by itself to be useful. Lesson learned.

I'm going to consider a candy to try. Will post decision along with results on here.
thought you might enjoy it over here where its acepted to talk about silly things.

in the case of kool-aid hooch. when would you add it? its been my exp. that when making kool-aid you have to add a bunch of sugar(rarely get it over here unless you want to pay big). may as well slap some in a nutral and see how it goes if its good make a double kool-aid hooch flavour the ferment and then the final product.

Try palm tree fruit. Guaranteed to taste like prune juice wine ought to taste! High yielding as the fruit is sweet when ripe. Not bad to drink after the first quart so I been told.
The hardest item to add to a bottle of shine is patience!
I am still kicking.

first time trying nerd wine.
lime green hue
lime green hue
color: a light green hue reminiscent of lime cordial.
nose: artificial grape (like welch's) with mild citrus.
flavour: like a hand full of mixed nerds (who would have guessed ) its light and flows nicely over the tongue. it still has a sour sweetness to it. in all honesty it would be rather easy to drink.

hope yall enjoy the review :moresarcasm:.

i may run a fill through my 500ml micro still just to get a flavor of how it would taste. not sure if id go for a full 50l wash as it may be costly. i have how ever come to the conclusion that i want to make an exotic fruit IPA or IIPA and use it to add flavor/gravity points.

brought this stuff along to the hb club meet. got some good reviews. complements on experimenting. they also gave a list of sweets that may be interesting to ferment.

First, I do realize this is an old thread. But, I thought I'd chime in with my experience with KoolAid. Too much preservatives. Could not get a ferment started and gave up. Dumped all of the flavoring and sugar down the bathtub drain. There are lots of easier ways to flavor a wash or mash. Dole 100% fruit juices work well, and they have several blends. I've done wine with most all of them.

Might have to try the Nerds thing.
