Power for keg and column
Hey guys not sure how I overlooked this but will 1- 5500 watt element be enough to power a ful charge in my 15.5 gallon topped with a 48"x3" VM column? I've already ordered everything other than the wire and misc plugs/recepticals.

Yes, yes it will. I use a single 5500w element in 20 gallons.BoisBlancBoy wrote:Hey guys not sure how I overlooked this but will 1- 5500 watt element be enough to power a ful charge in my 15.5 gallon topped with a 48"x3" VM column? Thanks guys. I'll be looking forward to getting it all hooked up. Going to be so different not hearing that propane burner roaring away.

It will work fine. I run a 5500 with a keg and 4". I can only get slightly over 4000 watts out of my 5500 since my line voltage is only 208.

Re: Power for keg and column
Just for fun I put my 5500W ULWD element on a 55 gal drum filled with cold water. It brought brought the water to temp just as predicted it should based on the original temp of the water, the power of the element. The more power the faster it heats up. The larger the volume the longer it will take to heat up depending on the power input.
