Wire question while at lowes
Looking at a 25' roll of southwire seoprene 10/4 stranded for $42 which cones to $1.68 ft. It says max 300v. The stuff that they cut for customers, Southside royal, says 600v but is $2.40 ft. I thought all 10/4 Wire would be 600v. I don't know whether to spend that much more for the 600 or save alot and get the 300v. Any help before I leave with nothing? I'm doing the common scr 10,000 with5500w camco in a sanke keg.

Re: Wire question while at lowes
SJOOW wire is the flexible cable that is rated for 300v.
SOOW wire is the flexible cable that is rated for 600v.
Go with the SJOOW and save yourself a little bit of cash. No need for the other.

Re: Wire question while at lowes
Thank you, I'm going back tomorrow to get it.

5,500 watts @ 240 volts = 22.91666667 amps
I would shoot for a 30A breaker and wire to handle 30A. Below is a chart with good info for ya.

It appears that as long as you stay under a 50' run then you can go with 10 gauge wire.
Do you really need 4 wire?
Don't you just need a 2 hots, a neutral and a ground? That would be 10-3 aka 3 wire.

Portable cord the 3/4 indicates the actual wire count unlike romex. 10/4 from 30 amp outlet to controller and 10/3 out to elements.NineInchNails wrote:5,500 watts @ 240 volts = 22.91666667 amps
